Fall Break 2010.
Saturday October 16th - Monday October 18th.
Day 1: The trip up.
Ok, Saturday morning, 7:30 a.m. I awake to the familiar buzzing of my alarm clock and the shine of the red glowing numbers against the bed-head.
"why oh WHY am I up this early?" i thought, "maybe i can sleep for five more minutes?" then i realized that i had done ZERO packing WHAT-SO-EVER..........so i sat up straight, ran to the kitchen, grabbed my morning coffee, and set out to get clothes and pack for the weekend ahead of me.
after packing and getting ready for the day i set my bag at the front door (like i always do back in australia) and did a sweep to make sure i had everything i wanted for the car.... yada, yada, yada and Kelsey, Abby, Charissa and I were off! (evan couldn't come because she was working and cheering :[)
ok... so 7 and a half hours driving in a car with 3 girls, one mother and a whole entire store of junk food doesn't sound like too much fun does it? well... you'd be wrong.... ITS THE BEST!. We got to the Wyoming boarder and stopped to take a BAGILLION photo's, (which are on mine and charissa's facebook pages FYI) which was fun as! hah :)
After about 3 hours of blasting music, giggling girls and eating like pigs, we stopped off at this cute little playground where we acted like COMPLETE children :) it was amazing :) abby, kelsey, and i probably had about 30 splinters in our butts COMBINED....... was it worth it? I BELIEVE SO :)
Another few hours of driving passed by and the next thing we know we're exploring the cute town of Lusk: Wyoming. We saw this REALLY really creepy hotel and looked at a few pwetty buildings :) We found a subway to each some lunch and giggled, ate, and yes.... saw ONE attractive boy in the ENTIRE town. Just our luck???
So we drove..........and drove.............and drove.........and drove until we finally reached the lodge we were staying at :)
Dinner that night was probably one of the funniest nights of my life :) Abby Hammer.... you are one hilarious child, Kelsey and I LITERALLY had to run to the bathroom because we were laughing that much. The rest of the night we just stayed in the hotel room and watched T.V. as a family.
Ok, so i woke up the next morning, got dressed, had a quick breakfast and went out the front to jump into a jeep and explore some wildlife......not kidding.
That morning we went on a great Safari Ride where we saw countless buffalo, deer, and squirrels..... yes, me being the australian was ALWAYS on the lookout for those squirrels!
One of the best things about this safari ride was that we went really close to the buffalo and yes.....it decided to growl at us.... Kelsey, Abby and I were all scared in the backseat while Charissa was just chilling, videoing the whole thing :) haha
After the Safari Ride came the whole reason for this trip.......MOUNT RUSHMORE
The drive up there was amusing :) there were sooo many one lane tunnels and bridges and they all had their own unique things that kept up all amused :)
We kept seeing the great mountain through the tree's and spotting it out and all that good stuff.
When we got to the Memorial Park we stopped and had a look around at the girft shop and the museum.. and then came the the hike :)
We hiked for about a half hour and saw the mountain from all different angles and it was amazing! :)
After the hike we got some ice-cream and made our way back to the car for the day's next adventure.
ok, there's this place called 'Cozmo's ' and its freaking........freaky! Its a place where gravitational forces are stronger and all that good stuff. You can feel it and omg its soooooo freaky! i thought it was going to all be a hoax, but i'm convinced!

We drove as quickly as we could to get to the Reptile Park.......yet i wasn't fast enough. :( thats ok though :) that just meant that we had more time in....... RAPID CITY
we had a look in some of the stores and then went to the Firehouse Brewing C. for dinner (may i just say that their fish, chips and pasta are pretty DANNNNG good!)
Ok... so after dinner we drove back to the hotel.....but not before one more interesting thing :)
Kelsey, Abby and I ALL had to pee sooooo badly! So we stopped, found a wall and pee'd behind it.... lets just say that someone had a bit of a misfortune.......love you! haha
That night we did the same as the other night... watched some movies as a family.
We got up pretty early the next morning so we could be out of the lodge by 8:30. We left the lodge to go to Custer, where we got a morning coffee and a muffin for breakfast with Tim the Parrot... funniest thing ever! haha :)
After this we made our way to the Mammoth Exhibit where we saw fossils, bones, and all other nick nacks. As IDEK says "i could pierce a mammoth with these sharp as nipples", and so we did :) funniest thing about this was, Abby pretending to be a dinosaur in the parking lot yelling this is sparta :) hahahaha BEST!
After the Mammoth Museum (alliteration......Ms. Giddins would be sooo proud of me!) we drove to Lusk and got some pizza for lunch and annoyed the heck out of Charissa (you're a saint).
After Pizza we drove for a few hours until we all had to desperately pee, so Kelsey pulled into this General Store......it was soooo ghetto, we thought we were going to die. SO, we went to the bathrooms, discovered that it didn't flush and had 0 water access! thank god for mineral water and paper towels in the trunk!
We drove to the 'Welcome to South Dakota' and 'Welcome to Colorful Colorado' signs were we had MEGA PHOTO OPS.......(we took some photo's)
We drove home, I fell asleep. and didn't go to school the next day :)
